Recently, our founder and composer Conrad Asman has produced a set of orchestral works all surrounding the historic cultures found in the People’s Republic in China.

This project began with his work Shuang Mian Xiu [Two-Faced Tapestry] which was named the joint winner of the Jinji Lake Composition Competition in 2018.

Subsequently, Conrad was commissioned to write The Flowing River, an orchestral tone poem on the folksong of the same name surrounding the traditional tragic love story set by an unknown river in the Yunnan province. This work was premiered by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in December 2019 as part of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s Listening to China project.

Currently, Conrad is taking part in the iSing! International Composition Competition in which he has composed two new orchestral art songs for voices and orchestra (2020). His work Drinking Song was recently announced one of the Grand Winners.
