Lanqing Ding is a composer who is from China. She obtained a bachelor of composition from the Shanghai Conservatory where she works with Professor Ye Guohui and with An Chengbi for electroacoustic music. She then came to Paris to study at IRCAM in project Cursus with Hèctor Parra between 2016-2017. Later she did an exchange project at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Professor Elmar Lampson. Since September 2020, she has been pursuing a master class at the Conservatoire national Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, in the class of Stefano Gervasoni. She also follows the class of Yan Maresz, Luis Noan, and Grégoire Lorieux for electroacoustic music. She is supported by several scholarships such as The Meyer Foundation, Fondation de France – Legs Monique Gabus, and the China Scholarship Council.
Her artistic training began at the age of five by learning the piano, classical dance and choral. Lanqing’s music is strongly related to the genres of vocal, acoustic and electronic music. Her music is inspired by nature, but also other artistic forms, such as theater, cinema, plastic arts, philosophy… Her work expresses her perception of the world and her desire for introspection. Her works are performed at international festivals and by renowned ensembles such as the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Opera Symphony and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, the Meitar Ensemble, the Neue vocalsolisten Stuttgart in particular.
Currently, she is supported by Aix-provence Festival Academy and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, for writing a new piece for voices and orchestra which will be premiered in July 2022 in Lisbon. The piece which was premiered at Lucerne Festival Academy, “Dédale”, for two trumpets will be played on 15th February at Frankfurt. A new piece commissioned by Nouveaux Horizons will be premiered in November 2021. The piece for Piano, Pipa and string orchestra “I remember…” will be performed by the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra at Festival Présences 2022.
